The eight BRICS Intellectual Property Forum (BIPF) will be held, this year, in London, United Kingdom. Between the days of 21 and 22 November, 2016, discussion tables will be organized with focus on protection of intellectual property, and, particularly, on the latest policies related to intellectual property and on the development of laws on the topic in the BRICS countries.
On November 22nd and 23rd, 2016, the seminar “The Role of BRICS in the Evolution of the New Environmental Governance” will be held at PUC-Rio’s auditório B8 (auditorium B8), located on the 8th floor of the Frings building.
The next event of the Network of Southern Think Tanks Africa is arranged to occur between 29 November and 1 December, 2016, in Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting is co-organised by the Wits School of Governance and partners of the BRICS Policy Center, Oxfam and Saiia.
The BRICS Policy Center, represented by its General Supervisor, prof. Paulo Esteves, and by its researcher, prof. Sérgio Veloso, participates, between December 07th and 8th, 2016, in the event “Os BRICS e a Política Externa Brasileira em Perspectiva. Um Balanço Crítico”. The event is co-organized by ActionAid Brasil, Rede Brasileira de Integração dos Povos (REBRIP) and the Instituto Brasileiro de Análises Sociais e Econômicas (IBASE).
The BRICS Policy Center will hold on the 14th November, 2016, two seminars (one after the other) with Mónica Ródriguez de Luna (University of Hamburg) and Melina Breitegger (University of Stellenbosch). Both the researchers are in the Center through the programme Power and Region in a Multipolar Order (PRIMO).
Prof. Monica Herz, coordinator of the Global South Unit for Mediation (GSUM), participated in a meeting of the Academic Advisory Council on Mediation, at the Université de Montréal, on 30-31 January 2017.

Represented by its General Supervisor, Prof. Paulo Esteves, the BRICS Policy Center participated on the “T20 Africa Conference: Building alliances for sustainable development” that was held on February 01st and 02nd, 2017, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
On February 22nd, 2017, the BRICS Policy Center (BPC) held the workshop “Finanças Climáticas, Desenvolvimento, Pobreza e Desigualdade: Onde estamos e para onde vamos?”. The event was an initiative of the Socio Environmental Platform of BPC, the Public Interest Management (GIP) and Development Initatives (DI) and had the participation of Rafael de Soler, from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mariela di Ciommo, from DI, Alice Amorim, from GIP, Paulo Esteves, General Supervisor of BPC and Maureen Santos, from the Socio Environmental Platform.
On March 9th and 10th, 2017, the Laboratório de Estudos em Economia Política da China (LabChina) and the International Political Economy Graduation Programme of the Economy Institute of Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro jointly organize the conference "Economia Política do Desenvolvimento da China"
