Can Multilateralism’s Legitimacy Crisis Be Fixed with More Representation?
In the policy brief, the author argues that one of the main challenges facing contemporary multilateralism is the growing crisis of legitimacy among international institutions. The policy brief maintains that expanding the representation of the Global South is an important aspect of this debate, but that strengthening multilateralism depends on a broader agenda for the democratization of global governance, with institutions that are more representative, responsive, and adapted to changes in the international order.
