Colloquium: “Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration: Which role for the BRICS countries and other emerging donors?”

On August 31, MAPI and GSUM organized a colloquium entitled “Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration: Which role for the BRICS countries and other emerging donors?”, given by Professor Alpaslan Özerdem (George Mason University). This event was hosted by the BRICS Policy Center and included Monica Herz (IRI/PUC-Rio) and Maíra Siman (IRI/PUC-Rio) as discussant and mediator, respectively.

The debate addressed the actions of emerging states and donors in the field of security, humanitarian aid and development promotion, raising questions about the differences between the actions of emerging donors and conventional donors and reflecting on the role of emerging states and groups in the governance and transformation of armed conflicts in the current context of the crisis of multilateralism.
