BPC director Marta Fernández and researcher Ana Garcia met with the team from the Institute for Pan-African Thought & Conversation

On June 3, BPC director Marta Fernández and researcher Ana Garcia met with the Institute for Pan-African Thought & Conversation team led by Professor Siphamandla Zondi, who is also co-director of the Institute for Global African Affairs. At the meeting, they discussed the G20, with a focus on reforming the international financial architecture, and intra-BRICS cooperation. Talks also began on planning a “side event” during the G20 Summit in November in Rio de Janeiro, based on issues such as African debt and the reform of multilateral development banks. Those present reinforced the importance of influencing the G20 agenda from a convergent viewpoint of the Global South, which could find continuity at the G20 Forum to be held in South Africa in 2025.
