The BRICS Policy Center welcomes Professor Luisa Lobato as a new researcher in the Innovation and Development Governance group
The BRICS Policy Center (BPC/PUC-Rio) is pleased to announce the arrival of Professor Luisa Lobato as a new researcher with the “Innovation and Development Governance” research group, coordinated by Professor Luis Manuel Fernandes.
A professor at the Institute of International Relations at PUC-Rio and Academic Coordinator of the university’s Digital Humanities Laboratory, Luisa Lobato holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in International Relations from PUC-Rio, as well as an undergraduate degree in International Relations from the University of the Amazon (UNAMA). She has also served as a visiting researcher at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva.
With over a decade of experience in research, teaching, and academic output, her work focuses on investigating the interactions between digital technologies and international politics, drawing on perspectives from International Security and Science and Technology Studies. Her key research themes include cybersecurity, algorithmic governance, artificial intelligence, and the politics of technology.
Her addition to the “Innovation and Development Governance” group strengthens the BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio research agenda regarding digital transformation, the governance of emerging technologies, and contemporary development challenges, helping to expand the debate on the role of technological innovation in global governance and public policy.
