The Antena Carioca journal recently announced the event “Space, Sovereignty, and Resistance: Critical Dialogues from the Global South,” which will take place at the BRICS Policy Center on June 26.

The debate is being organized by the Global South Unit of Mediation (GSUM) and will feature Azadeh Sobout (Queen’s University Belfast), Zaynab El Bernoussi (The Africa Institute / Global Studies University, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates), and will be moderated by Andréa Gil (President of ABRI—Brazilian Association of International Relations and professor at UFRJ).

The piece highlights the importance of the debate in the current context, marked by intensifying conflicts in regions such as Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and North Africa. Against this backdrop, the debate will offer a critical reflection on how different forms of violence impact not only bodies but also territories, collective infrastructure, and possibilities for political existence.
