Debate: What if we put peace at the center of politics?

The Global South Unit for Mediation (GSUM), a research program of the BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio, will hold a debate on June 3nd at 11:00 AM entitled “What if we put peace at the center of politics?”, with the participation of Fransérgio Goulart (Right to Memory and Racial Justice Initiative), Ingri Bøe Buer (MSCA Research Fellow at the BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio and NMBU), Thainã de Medeiros (Papo Reto Collective), and Luís Gouveia Jr. (GSUM/BPC/PUC-Rio Fellow).

The meeting will promote a discussion on the dynamics of peace and conflict, with a special focus on Rio de Janeiro. Among the topics addressed are police and structural violence, as well as the role of community activism in building alternatives and pathways to peace.
