BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio Holds Inaugural Lecture of 2026, Entitled “The Global South as an Unfinished Project: Trajectory, Limits, and Transformation of the International Order

On March 9, 2026, the BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio held its inaugural lecture of 2026, entitled “The Global South as an Unfinished Project: Trajectory, Limits, and Transformation of the International Order.” The lecture was given by Karin Vazquez, a researcher at Fudan University (China) and associate professor at O.P. Jindal Global University (India), and moderated by Paulo Esteves, a researcher at BPC/PUC-Rio.

During her presentation, Vazquez reflected on the paths of transformation of the Global South in the face of the challenges of the contemporary international order, highlighting the challenges and opportunities faced by countries in the region within a scenario of geopolitical changes. Following her contribution, Professor Paulo Esteves commented on the topics addressed by professor Karin, engaging with the themes presented and raising additional questions about issues involving the Global South, which were later revisited by the speaker to further the debate.

At the end of the meeting, the audience was invited to participate in a question and answer (Q&A) session, expanding the debate on the topics presented during the lecture.
