BRICS Policy Center Hosts Director and Coordinator of the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS)

On March 9, 2026, the director of the BRICS Policy Center, Marta Fernández, and the deputy director, Maria Elena Rodríguez, hosted Philippe Peycam, director of the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS), and Laura Erber, coordinator of the IIAS Fellowship Program, at their headquarters.

The meeting aimed to present the research agendas and main initiatives of both institutions, as well as identify opportunities for academic cooperation. During the conversation, possible partnerships were discussed around themes such as the transformations of the global order, the dynamics of the Global South, and the role of dialogue platforms between academia, policymakers, and civil society.

The meeting reinforced the mutual interest in deepening the dialogue between the BRICS Policy Center (PUC-Rio) and the International Institute for Asian Studies, opening perspectives for future joint initiatives.
