BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio launched the book “G20 in Brazil and South Africa: Priorities, Agendas and Voices of the Global South” in partnership with the IPATC (Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation).
Multipolarity is advancing, and the Global South is taking on an increasingly prominent role. In this context of transformation, post-war structures have proven obsolete, yet international cooperation remains essential to address interconnected and overlapping crises.
The sequence of G20 presidencies held by Indonesia, India, Brazil, and South Africa has opened space for the Global South to propose a renewed multilateralism—one that is more inclusive and equitable. The book “G20 in Brazil and South Africa” reflects this historic moment by bringing together perspectives from the Global South on the presidencies of Brazil (2024) and South Africa (2025), addressing key agendas such as trade and investment, international financial architecture, climate action, and digital technologies.
