The BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio participated in the seminar “Popular Ecofeminisms in the Territories: a systemic vision in the face of the financialization and militarization of life”, held on September 18, 19, and 20, 2025, organized by Instituto Equit with the support of various partner institutions. The event brought together researchers, activists, and representatives of social movements to discuss the intersections between geopolitics, neoliberalism, extractivism, militarism, and the alternatives built from the territories.
Our director, Marta Fernández, contributed to the opening panel with an analysis of the global geopolitical context, in dialogue with researchers such as Yiping Cai (DAWN) and Graciela Rodriguez (Instituto Equit), reflecting on the challenges of a new world order and the role of the BRICS.
The seminar featured international references such as Verónica Gago (University of Buenos Aires and Ni Una Menos collective) and Silvia Federici (Hofstra University), as well as figures such as Clara Mattei, Franco “Bifo” Berardi, Mónica Bruckmann, Raquel Gutiérrez, and Luci Cavallero, who contributed to a plural and intersectional debate on alternatives to neoliberal barbarism.
This participation reaffirms the commitment of the BRICS Policy Center at PUC-Rio to foster dialogues between academia and social movements, building bridges between critical knowledge and grassroots experiences from the Global South.
