BRICS hosts launch of dossier “BRICS+ and the Sovereign Future of the Global South”

On June 11, the BRICS Policy Center (BPC) hosted the launch of the dossier “BRICS+ and the Sovereign Future of the Global South”, an initiative of the Brazilian Network for the Integration of Peoples (REBRIP).

The event was attended by the director of the BPC, Professor Marta Fernández, co-author of the chapter “BRICS Institutional Architecture: Memory, participation and advocacy for transformative governance”. Other authors of the dossier also took part, such as Graciela Rodriguez, Adhemar Mineiro, Mateus Mendes, Marina Cortez, Fernando Amorim Teixeira and Priscilla Papagiannis, who contributed analyses on the challenges of global governance, alternatives to the neoliberal economic model and the strategic role of the expanded BRICS in promoting the sovereignty of the countries of the Global South.

Throughout the launch, central themes were discussed, such as the repositioning of BRICS on the international stage, the prospects for cooperation in solidarity and the need to regulate artificial intelligence. The dossier also presents reflections on sustainable finance, alternative monetary systems and the dispute over norms in the context of global governance.
