Carlos Frederico Coelho, a researcher at the BRICS Policy Center, was interviewed by O Globo to highlight the growing recognition of China as a positive influence among emerging powers, including Brazil. The interview was conducted in the context of his recently published work, co-authored with Paulo Esteves, professor at IRI/PUC-Rio.

In this regard, the Emerging Middle Powers Report indicates an increasingly favorable perception of China’s global influence in countries such as Brazil, India, and South Africa. Although there are criticisms of China’s trade practices, they are still viewed as fairer than those of the United States and the European Union. Trade is identified as one of the main foreign policy priorities by experts in these countries.
