The professor from IRI/PUC-Rio, Carlos Frederico de Souza Coelho, gave interviews to the newspaper O Globo and GloboNews, in which he discussed Donald Trump’s protectionist policies and the possible negative impacts on the reputation and credibility of the United States in the international arena.
According to the professor, these measures are expected to generate short-term inflation, and the long-term damages are likely to encourage other countries to seek new arrangements and balances, making it more difficult for the U.S. to negotiate future agreements.
