The year 2024 was the scene of major conferences dedicated to important environmental causes, such as fighting the adverse effects of climate change, conserving biodiversity, combating desertification, tackling plastic pollution in the world, protecting environmental activists and land defenders, among others. The environmental issue was also one of the central themes of Brazil’s presidency of the G20, a forum for primarily economic and financial discussions, with the theme featuring in the G20 Leaders’ Declaration.

The environmental agenda continues to expand in international negotiating spaces, so it is crucial to follow the development of these debates. Even more so now, in 2025, when Brazil will preside over the largest international meeting on climate: COP 30, the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
