BPC participates in “Urban Regenerative Bioeconomies” event

Professor and researcher Sérgio Veloso, coordinator of the BRICS-Urbe research program, participated in a workshop organized by Chatham House and the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro, where urban regenerative bioeconomies were discussed. Across G20 countries, urban areas face mounting climate challenges from extreme heat to pollution and flooding. But they also can hold much of the knowledge, R&D, and community power to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable future. The event focused on the key role of cities in addressing climate challenges such as pollution, extreme heat, and flooding, exploring bioeconomic solutions. The discussions also highlighted opportunities for financing and public policies to accelerate sustainable urban development.
