The aim of this factsheet is to analyze, from a comparative perspective, the main projects that have received Chinese investment and funding in five countries in the region that share the Amazon biome – Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Bilateral trade relations between these countries and China are also addressed, with special attention to exports, which are sometimes closely linked to some of the projects.

In addition to carrying out an analysis that covers the entire territory of the five countries, special attention was paid to Chinese projects located within the boundaries of the Pan-Amazon region1 , in order to understand whether there is a different interest in China’s actions in this specific biome and what their impacts are.
