China’s Influence in the Amazonian Region and the topic of “Chinese Debates”

During the 10th and 11th of December 2019, Professor Maria Elena Rodrigues, LACIDs Coordinator, participated in the “Chinese Debates” forum taking place at Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia. During the event, experts had the opportunity to discuss Chinese projects in the Amazonian region. Waterways, railways and hydroelectric plants that are currently under construction were amongst the cases analysed. Additionally, a theme throughout the discussions was the involvement of Chinese companies and financing through Chinese banks.
