Workshop on Financing for Climate Justice at the G20 Social Summit

FASE will host the “Financing for Climate Justice” workshop this Thursday, in partnership with the Socio-Environmental Platform of the BRICS Policy Center and the Institute of International Relations at PUC-Rio, at the G20 Social Summit in Rio de Janeiro. This debate follows the publication of the policy brief “Fostering Climate Justice Finance in G20 Countries”, under the framework of Task Force 02 – Sustainable Climate Action and Just and Inclusive Energy Transitions of the Think 20 (T20), an engagement group of the G20.

The document was authored by FASE, the BRICS Policy Center, the Tricontinental Institute, MST, the International Association for Popular Cooperation, the Brazilian Network for Environmental Justice, CooperAcción, the Fiscal Justice Group, and the Institute of International Relations at PUC-Rio. It focuses on global fair taxation and community-led climate funds as central elements of its recommendations. The workshop will explore current opportunities related to financing for climate justice and discuss how these issues can be incorporated into our agendas, bringing together academic and civil society perspectives.
