The event’s opening featured the participation of Minister Paula Barboza, General Coordinator for BRICS at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), Walter Desiderá, Coordinator of Studies on International Economic Relations at IPEA, and Graciela Rodriguez, representative of REBRIP. The panel, moderated by Isabel Rocha de Siqueira, Director of IRI/PUC-Rio, discussed, from various perspectives, the expectations and challenges of Brazil’s BRICS presidency next year.
During the second panel of the event, the authors of the Guide were present: Marta Fernández, Director of the BRICS Policy Center; Maria Elena Rodriguez, Deputy Director; and Renan Canellas, Research Assistant. They introduced the Guide to the audience and discussed the context and objectives of the publication, which aims to serve as an engagement tool for researchers, journalists, social organizations, and all those interested in understanding the functioning and strategic role of the BRICS, particularly regarding the participation of these actors in next year’s Summit, to be held in Brazil.
