The Socioenvironmental Platform published “The climate ambition of the BRICS countries: South Africa”

The BRICS Policy Center’s Socioenvironmental Platform presents a detailed study on South Africa’s climate ambition, the country chairing the G20 this year.

This analysis, written by Priscilla Papagiannis (a master’s and doctoral student at CPDA/UFRRJ), presents the country’s climate situation, its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, and domestic and international policies and initiatives.

This work is part of the “The climate ambition of the BRICS countries” research project, supported by the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS). The research includes an executive summary (available on our website!) and five individual studies on the five members of the bloc (before its expansion in 2024).
