The professor Carlos Frederico Coelho, from IRI/PUC-Rio and researcher at the BPC/PUC-Rio, gave an interview to the newspaper O Globo about the meeting between the presidents of Brazil and the United States.
According to the professor, the existence of differences between the countries is natural, and the most important thing is the reestablishment of dialogue after the worst moment in bilateral relations in more than two centuries. For him, the political gesture represents a positive sign of rapprochement and a return to diplomatic pragmatism between Brazil and the United States, which may open space for progress in trade negotiations between the two nations.
