In the article “BRICS+ Can Take Leadership in the Climate Agenda,” Professor and researcher Ana Saggioro Garcia and Maiara Folly, from Plataforma CIPÓ, point out that Brazil is at the center of important international discussions, hosting both the BRICS Summit and COP30. In all these debates, the climate agenda is present, with Brazil bringing forward the “BRICS Climate Leadership Agenda.” For this reason, the group, which now has ten full members, has become an important platform for cooperation on this issue.

Thus, BRICS+ can represent an important voice for climate financing in a world marked by geopolitical tensions. “More cohesion and joint action are needed in multilateral spaces to accelerate the reform of the international financial architecture, expand fiscal space, and enable the large-scale mobilization of resources,” they point out.
