The ENSURED Project published the report Transforming Global Migration Governance Through and Beyond the Global Compacts, featuring contributions from BPC/PUC-Rio researcher Kai Michael Kenkel and IRI/PUC-Rio graduate students

As part of the Second Round of Reports on Revitalising Multilateralism within the ENSURED Project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon program, the researchers critically examine the robustness, effectiveness, and democracy of key institutions. Together, they offer insights into how the European Union can uphold multilateralism and make global governance fit for purpose in a world marked by disputes.

The report, with the collaboration of BPC/PUC-Rio researcher Kai Michael Kenkel and IRI graduate students Mylena Lucciola, Victor Cabral, Vitoria Kavanami, and Beatriz Fernandes, analyzes the promises and challenges of the UN Global Compact for Migration and the UN Global Compact on Refugees. It warns that without stronger accountability and sustained political engagement, these frameworks risk becoming little more than rhetorical spaces.
