The BRICS Policy Center’s research unit, LACID, has just launched its new subproject, “Industrialization of the Global South.”
The BRICS Policy Center is part of a new research project led by the Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD) in China, which aims to analyze the challenges and opportunities faced by Global South countries in their industrialization processes. The study examines the impacts of global transformations—such as digitalization, the transition to a green economy, and new geopolitical dynamics—and proposes policy pathways to foster sustainable growth.
The BPC will contribute to the project by focusing on the Brazilian case, with the participation of researchers Marta Fernández, Maria Elena Rodriguez, Ana Saggioro Garcia, and Lucas Carames. This project stems from discussions at the China-Latin America and the Caribbean Cooperation for Development Conference, held in Beijing in October 2024, which BPC Director Marta Fernández attended at the invitation of the CIKD. The event addressed topics such as cooperation in global value chains, energy transition, and sustainable development.
