The BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio held the second edition of the BRICS+ in Dialogue Webinar: An Analysis of the 17th BRICS Summit.

The event was moderated by Professor Marta Fernández (BPC/PUC-Rio) and brought together researchers Haimanot Eshetu (Ethiopian Institute of Foreign Affairs), Mulugeta Sisay (Ethiopian Policy Studies Institute), Noura Elsheikh (Cairo University), and Steven Gruzd (SAIIA, South African Institute of International Affairs).

The meeting presented the perspectives of African countries regarding the summit and its outcomes, with Steven Gruzd addressing South Africa’s performance at the summit. Haimanot and Noura discussed inequality within the global governance and economic system, highlighting the revisionist approach taken by the BRICS to address these disparities. Mulugeta reflected on the implications of the summit’s agreements in the current global political context and shared his perspective as an Ethiopian researcher on future developments.
