The BRICS Policy Center hosts the event “13th High Level Academic Forum China-Latin America, Special Session Rio” in partnership with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
On October 15, the BRICS Policy Center had the honor of receiving the distinguished presence of Mr. GAO Xiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), a member of the Communist Party of China and currently a member of the 20th Central Committee of the CCP, together with a Chinese delegation of 25 academics from the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS)/CASS.
PUC-Rio’s Institute of International Relations and its BRICS Policy Center hosted the event “13th High Level Academic Forum China-Latin America, Special Session Rio” in partnership with CASS and the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS). The event featured opening speeches by Mr. GAO Xiang and the director of the IRI, Prof. Isabel Rocha de Siqueira, and discussed the topics of “China-Brazil Relations” and “Global South and Global Governance”.
The event was also attended by BPC researchers, representatives of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Rio de Janeiro, students and guests from civil society. The 13th High Level Academic Forum China-Latin America, Special Session Rio was held in the context of closer institutional ties between PUC-Rio/IRI/BPC and CASS/ILAS and in line with a joint work plan.
