The BRICS Policy Center Fellow, Linjie Chou Zanadu, wrote the article “The Political Economy of the Anglo-Saxon Racial Hegemony in Brazil”, which aims to analyze the influence of the Anglo-Saxon racial hierarchy on Brazil’s cultural and economic aspects. Linjie argues that despite the Luso-colonial tradition based on miscegenation and whitening, Anglo-Saxon racial categorization ideals have shaped modern Brazilian society. Furthermore, this dynamic is linked to the Neo-Marxist concept of the core-periphery structure, which explains the economic division and unequal development between the Global North and South.
