The BPC/PUC-Rio researcher and IRI/PUC-Rio professor Carlos Frederico Coelho gave an interview to the newspaper O Globo for an article entitled “‘A bucket of cold water’: experts point out the prospects of the EU–Mercosur agreement in the European judiciary.”
The expert assessed that the possibility of an agreement between Mercosur and the European Union has weaknesses, especially legal ones, and that the likelihood of the European Court of Justice implementing it without parliamentary approval is low. He described the referral to the Court for review as a “bucket of cold water” in light of the current international political scenario, with Europe seeking to carve out space between the United States and China.
