Silvia Marina Pinheiro discusses the situation of contemporary slave labor during the Covid-19 pandemic

Last September 16, 2020, Silvia Marina Pinheiro published the article “Contemporary slave labor and the Covid-19 pandemic” in the Le Monde Diplomatique Brasil magazine. The researcher highlighted how vulnerability to slave labor has been heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. She also pointed out that, as a result of the pandemic, there is an estimated 12% increase in the unemployment rate in the last six months, resulting in 12.4 million more people on the streets, further aggravating the situation of informality in the country.
