The 2014 Elections in India
The purpose of this monitor is to analyze the main implications of Narendra Modi’s victory as Prime Minister of India. The 2014 elections indicated that the Indian electorate wants changes, which also reflects a fall from the Congress Party and on the other hand, the growing power of the Indian People’s Party. Exploring India’s national and foreign policy with a focus on regional relations and the BRICS, it is argued that Narendra Modi’s entry into government will benefit India’s goal of being recognized as a world power.
