It’s time to improve the quality of Brazil-China cooperation

The 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil offers an opportunity to take stock of the scope, achievements and limitations of these relations. In the multilateral sphere, the two countries participate in the G20, BRICS and BASIC, in addition to being founding members of the New Development Bank (NDB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Regionally, China has created and maintained important cooperation forums in Latin America, such as the China-CELAC Forum, created in 2014. Brazil is essential for China as the largest South American market and strategic regional partner.
