Environmental Racism: Climate Justice and Financing
This provocation resonates with a distressing echo in the contemporary landscape, where the specter of the “end of the world” seems ever closer, not only in the realms of science fiction, but also in the urgent reality of climate change. Yet, while we all share vulnerability in the face of this imminent danger, we are not equally affected by its consequences.
Black and Indigenous communities face a disproportionately greater risk in the face of the climate crisis. Therefore, there is an urgent need to examine how the emerging concept of climate justice addresses not only the environmental urgency, but also the social injustices that amplify the impact of climate change on these communities.
