A recent Policy Brief from the group on the evolution of R & D investments and intellectual property registrations of industrial innovation products and processes among the BRICS countries, concluded that, despite the relative increase in R & D investment and the participation of these countries in the industrial patents in the USPTO, the latter indicator still shows a marked inequality between these emerging and traditional powers in terms of innovation, not following the accelerated pace of economic growth in those countries in recent years.
