Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)
This fact sheet, produced by the Socio-Environmental Platform of the BRICS Policy Center, outlines the most recent multilateral development bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The China-led initiative aims to foster sustainable development and promote regional cooperation and partnership in addressing common development challenges in Asian countries. The bank officially started its operations in January 2016 and more than 50 countries are members. Its creation was considered one of the most important episodes of 2015 for the global economic governance.
