Professor Ana Garcia, director of the BRICS Policy Center, participated in a report by the newspaper O Globo, which discusses the expansion of the New Development Bank (NDB), known as the BRICS Bank. The professor spoke about China’s interest in expanding the bank as a space for multilateral action where it exerts influence. “The increase in membership will allow the bank to receive more deposits and expand its area of operation. As it is a bank that responds to the market, it is not a political bank, it wants to act in more places. It is still a small institution compared to other regional ones and the World Bank and, at the same time, it has to do this in a responsible way,” said the professor.
