Pathways to the Construction of South-South Cooperation Systems and Processes

During the last Tuesday, February 21, 2017, the Roadmap Validation Workshop: Paths to Building Systems and Processes for the Evaluation of South-South Cooperation (CSS) was held in Brasilia, at the Itamaraty Palace.

Based on a series of discussions on the theme of monitoring and evaluation of CSS, the first draft of the Roadmap document was produced from the “South-South Brazilian Cooperation Dialogues: M & A“, organized last January by the BRICS Policy Center, in collaboration with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC / MRE) and with the support of the South Articulation.

At this stage of the dialogues, the validation workshop was attended by more than thirty (30) representatives from various ministerial bureaus, implementing agencies and SSC multilateral agencies, such as the Ministry of Health; Ministry of Labour; Ministry of Social and Agrarian Development; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; National Fund for the Development of Education (FNDE); Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea); Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz); Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa); National Industrial Apprenticeship Service (Senai); United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef); Center for Excellence against Hunger (WFP / UN); and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

During the occasion, comments were received on the document, as well as the main aspects and challenges faced by these agents in their activities of monitoring and evaluation of CSS. In addition to establishing a very rich forum for discussion, the dialogues also fostered the building of alliances for the exchange of experiences among the most diverse actors of SSC.

Prediction of launch
The final version of the document, consolidating the various contributions received, should be published in May.
