Marta Fernández writes article for Correio Braziliense

On August 29, Marta Fernández, the new director of the BRICS Policy Center, wrote an article for Correio Braziliense about the expansion of the BRICS countries and the significance of this process. The professor highlighted how the additions of Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Ethiopia and Iran prove the influence of China and Russia, as well as noting the importance of the expansion of the BRICS in a context in which Russia is fighting the Russian-Ukrainian War.

Marta also points out how Brazil was in a dilemma with the possible expansion of the BRICS, a dilemma between a possible emptying of the significance of the grouping, and between going against the principles of democratization of the international system that guide its foreign policy.
