Inaugural event of the “Instantaneous” series discusses the agreement between Mercosur and European Union
BRICS Policy Center organized, on August 28th, the inaugural event of the “Instant Debates” series, which will bring monthly analysis about the international conjuncture, with contributions from academics, representatives of civil society, the private sector, political leaders and the media. The series began with a debate concerning the “Mercosur-European Union Agreement” and featured presentations by Sandra Polónia Rios (CINDES), Marcelo Nonnenberg, (IPEA / PUC-Rio) and the participation of representatives of various institutions in Rio de Janeiro.
The event discussed the evolution of Brazil’s trade policies, characteristics of the agreement, and different perspectives on how to analyze the gains and losses of these negotiations for MERCOSUR and for international trade.
