GSUM will host the panel “Post-colonial hierarchies in conflict and violence studies: a look at “systems of conflict””

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Global South Unit for Mediation (GSUM) would like to announce that registration is now open for the panel discussion “Post-colonial hierarchies in conflict and violence studies: a look at “systems of conflict””, which will take place on Friday, October 18, from 4pm to 6pm. The dialog will be led by Profs. Andréa Gill (IFCS/UFRJ) and Viviana García-Pinzón (Arnold Bergstraesser Institute) and mediated by Prof. Dr. Maíra Siman (IRI/PUC-Rio) in a hybrid format: in the IRI 2 Auditorium and online via Zoom. The activities will be supported by the FAPERJ Emergentes Call for Proposals.

We will talk about Systems of Conflict and the contributions of postcolonial and decolonial thinking to Peace and Conflict Studies, including the coloniality of knowledge and the silencing of alternative voices to the West in the context of peace studies and peace process practice. In addition, we will point out collaborations and opportunities to pluralize approaches to violence and transformation from multiple sources.

Registration until October 16 at the link below:
