Cycle of Dialogues on Conflict, Violence and Peace in the Global South
On August 22, at 5pm, IRI/PUC-Rio through its Global South Unit for Mediation (GSUM) held the Dialogue “Knowing war and peace in the Global South”, at the BRICS Policy Center. The meeting marked the beginning of the Cycle of Dialogues on Conflict, Violence and Peace in the Global South, which will take place between August and November 2024.
This first meeting presented and discussed research carried out by GSUM researchers and partner institutions on topics related to violence, conflict and peace, as well as those developed by guests Amaya Querejazu (University of Antioquia), Berit Bliesemann de Guevara (Aberystwyth University) and Christine Andrä (University of Groningen). The meeting allowed for important exchanges on the possibilities for producing knowledge on the topics under discussion, especially from the Global South, and on the conceptual and concrete challenges facing such production.
The cycle of dialogues is part of the calendar celebrating 10 years of the GSUM, a project of the BRICS Policy Center, with the support of CAPES PrInt PUC-Rio (Conflict Transformation and International Mediation project) and FAPERJ Emergentes.
