BRICS-Urbe, a project focused on the study of urban issues in BRICS cities, coordinated by Professor Sérgio Veloso, has recently published two Notebooks

BRICS-Urbe Notebooks: U20: This Notebook addresses the U20 Summit, focusing on the role of technology and data in monitoring the climate impacts on health and emphasizing the importance of community engagement in developing effective health and climate protocols. The main topics discussed during the U20 Summit include urban resilience to climate change, social inclusion, and the reform of global governance, with discussions held across five thematic stages.

BRICS-Urbe Notebooks: Tobacco in Dispute: This Notebook reflects on the dispute regarding tobacco use in Brazil, as the country is a global reference in tobacco control, with policies such as advertising bans, tax increases, and the creation of smoke-free environments. However, the Brazilian scenario still faces challenges, mainly due to the growth of the illegal market and the increasing popularity of electronic smoking devices. While authorities warn about health risks, some advocate for the regulation of these devices as a way to curb the illicit market and strengthen harm reduction policies.
