On August 24, 2023, the BRICS Policy Center, represented by Director Marta Fernández and Professor Maria Elena Rodríguez, met with Mr. Ashwani K. Muthoo, Director General of the Independent Evaluation Office of the New Development Bank. These parties had already met previously, in an introductory moment in which the NDB presented its research done in partnership with the BNDES on renewable energy and associated transmission, while the BPC exhibited its studies and research projects.

During the meeting, Mr. Ashwani K. Muthoo was able to present two finalized reports: one analyzing the NDB’s emergency response in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the other on energy and transmission issues. The BRICS Policy Center and the New Development Bank expressed a mutual desire for a continued partnership between the institutions.
