BRICS Policy Center at PUC-Rio held the official launch event for the report “BRICS and the Invisibility of the Homeless Population” prepared by the National Movement of the Homeless Population

On June 24, the BRICS Policy Center at PUC-Rio held the official launch event for the report “BRICS and the Invisibility of the Homeless Population”, prepared by the National Movement of the Homeless Population (MNPR) and presented by Flávio Lino, secretary of MNPR/RJ.

The document compiles unprecedented data on the reality of the homeless population in the 11 countries that comprise the BRICS group, offering analyses of the weaknesses in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emphasizing the urgency of making the situation of the homeless population visible on the international stage. It highlights the need for concrete, structural, and lasting actions from BRICS countries.

Finally, the secretary proposes that Brazil take a leading role in driving this discussion, especially during its presidency of the bloc. In his remarks, he outlined paths toward a more inclusive international agenda, based on cooperation and mutual recognition of the social challenges faced by member countries.
