BRICS plays a strategic role in helping countries like China, Russia and Iran to circumvent the sanctions and barriers imposed by the United States and its allies, especially in the technological field. For Brazil, the challenge is to balance itself among the global powers, seeking to maximize the commercial and technological benefits offered by the bloc.

Maria Elena Rodríguez, deputy director of the BRICS Policy Center, pointed out in an interview with Agência Brasil that Western control over technologies reflects a neo-colonial logic. She said that BRICS can strengthen technological cooperation between its members, and that Brazil has sought partnerships with China in green technologies as part of its reindustrialization.
