BRICS expands historically and gains geopolitical weight with the entry of new members: Interview with Ana Garcia for the Brasil de Fato newspaper

Professor Ana Garcia, who is also the general coordinator of the BRICS Policy Center, gave an interview to the Brazilian newspaper Brasil de Fato, in which she clarifies some questions about the geopolitical and economic expansion of the bloc with the accession of new countries. Among the points discussed throughout the report, Ana dealt with the antagonistic positions and conflicts of agendas between some countries in the bloc: “they reached an agreement on six countries that represent the particular interests of each member (…) they didn’t explain whether with this expanded BRICS, decisions will be taken by consensus or by majority, or some other mechanism that manages, in addition to including these members, to contain the weight of Chinese definitions.”
