BPC’s director, Marta Fernández, and deputy director, Maria Elena Rodriguez, met with representatives of the national leadership of Movement for Popular Sovereignty in Mining
On Feb.02, BPC’s director, Marta Fernández, and deputy director, Maria Elena Rodriguez, met with representatives of the national leadership of MAM e (Movement for Popular Sovereignty in Mining) to discuss the movement’s articulations and deployment in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The BPC identifies a number of synergies with the movement, as it also develops projects to defend the rights of communities affected by mining projects and sustainable development. On the other hand, the Movement also has an international arm, which aims to connect the different movements in the Global South in the fight against predatory mining. We wish every success to the Movement, which will now be expanding its activities to Rio de Janeiro.
