BPC/PUC-Rio at the G20
The Director of the BRICS Policy Center, Marta Fernández, and the associate researchers Ana Garcia, Monica Herz, and Isabel Rocha de Siqueira will be in Johannesburg to participate in the T20 summit and Side Events. On the 11th and 12th, they will take part in the event “Bridging Blocs: The Global South, BRICS and Multilateral Reform in a Changing Order.” An official Side Event of T20 South Africa, the event will have three main pillars.
The first will feature reflections on the expansion of BRICS and the potential opportunities for economic and technological cooperation, as well as the possibility of closer alignment with the G20 agenda. The second will focus on the United Nations and multilateralism.
The third will take place on November 12, in Johannesburg, during which the BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio will launch the book “G20 in Brazil and South Africa: Priorities, Agendas and Voices of the Global South.”
The book brings together contributions on public policies in the context of the G20 presidencies of Brazil (2024) and South Africa (2025), gathering focused analyses on critical domains for addressing present and future international challenges, such as inclusive digital transformation, trade and investment, climate action and a just energy transition; reform of the international financial architecture; global governance; and solidarity.
