BPC held the webinar: “Violence in Ecuador: what about us?”
On January 22, we held a webinar entitled “Violence in Ecuador: what about us?”. The debate, mediated by IRI professor and BPC researcher Maria Elena Rodriguez, was attended by researchers Maria Villamar (UFRRJ), Thiago Rodrigues (UFF) and Luís Córdoba Alarcón (Universidad Central de Ecuador). On the occasion, the debaters analyzed the domestic and international causes of the violence perpetrated by organized crime in Ecuador and made connections with the situation in Brazil, taking into account, for example, the link between organized crime and the prison system. The debate was organized by the BPC in partnership with the GSUM (Global South Unit of Mediation) research programme and the PUC-Rio Interdisciplinary Studies Centre.
