BPC Director Marta Fernández at the 1st National Seminar of the BRICS People’s Forum

On March 21, BPC Director, Professor Marta Fernández, participated in the 1st National Seminar of the BRICS People’s Forum, themed “The Importance of BRICS in the New International Context.” The event featured Paulo Nogueira Batista Jr. (Economist, former Vice President of the New Development Bank), Monica Bruckmann (Political Scientist, Professor at UFRJ), Miguel Stedile (MST/Tricontinental Institute), and had the special participation of Ambassador Maurício Carvalho Lyrio, Brazil’s BRICS Sherpa.

The BRICS People’s Forum is part of the bloc’s social pillar, known as “People-to-People” (P2P), which aims to strengthen cooperation among member countries through civil society and other non-governmental actors. Within the BRICS structure, the social pillar serves as a platform to enhance collaboration between member nations, with civil society and non-governmental actors playing a key role across various sectors.
